The students of Souhad Najem are conquering the world!

27 March 2019

The 7-year-old Yasmine Saïd, one of the youngest students of the World Music & Dance Academy of Muziekpublique, participated in the talent show “Arabs Got Talent” in Lebanon. Curious about the performance of this brave girl? Then view the episode below.

Mohamed Amine El Korchi, a talented young qanûn player, also takes lessons together with his sister Nawel El Korchi at the World Music & Dance Academy of Muziekpublique. He is not only a student of Souhad Najem but he also participates in the Turkish Ensemble led by Tristan Driessens. Last week (21-23 / 03/2019) Tristan Driessens and Mohamed Amine performed during the first edition of the lute festival in Casablanca. Together with the phenomenal Moroccan percussionist Jamal Raoui, they represented Belgium and Muziekpublique. The trio played a wonderful interpretation of the composition Chwak by Souhad Najem. Relive the performance below.

If you want to see the qanûn students live in action, come to the Molière Theater during the End of Season (student concerts) on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June. More info will follow soon!

Or do you want to learn to play the qanûn? Then contact Muziekpublique for more information. There are also some places available for the Middle Eastern violin lesson. Shalan Alhamwy gives this individual violin lesson on Thursday evening.
