Let yourself be transported by the sound of Anne Niepold et Andy Cutting’s diatonic accordions. Fed by different trends and influences, the musician Anne Niepold always pushes her instrument’s limits further. From “Two chords will say” to “Musette is not dead”, she lives her passion without any barriers and sets out to be one of the most innovative accordionist in Europe. Her musical repertoire is in between different musical traditions. Making multiple eras and styles work together, going beyond esthetic boundaries, she is described as “a woman with great character, forged in metal, of which her accordion’s blades are made of”.
Andy Cutting is a diatonic accordion genius. Known for his work with respectively Chris Wood, Blowzabella and Topette, he played with celebrities like Sting and the Who! Having his own style, we can instantly recognize his instrument’s specific sonority, to which he gives a unique tone. His compositions and writing balance out between traditional and contemporary English folk. It is always exceptional and moving to see and hear him play. Managing rhythm, melody and harmony, as part of a group or solo, Cutting excels in strong as well as refined melodies.
Even if really different, both of these artists have a common point: the will to reach the public and share strong emotions with them. They perfectly complement one another in this duo album, warm, cheerful, with a touch of humor.
After the concert, Anne Niepold and Andy Cutting will start a folk ball in the foyer, which will be continued by the De Schepper-Sanczuk duo. Violinist Anouk Sanczuk and guitarist Florian De Schepper grew up in a family where folk music played an important role and they both studied classical music and jazz. These musicians play a folk ball with various influences, in which they leave room for improvisation, without denying their traditional roots.
