This Queimada is sold-out. Here you can already reserve your tickets for the next one on 24 April 2022.
Queimada is back at last! This folk ball is one of the grand classics of Muziekpublique. Get ready to dance the Polka, the Scottish, the “Bourrée”, the Mazurka… Experts and beginners will feel totally at ease.
The recipe for this evening is simple: an initiation to folk dancing by Frisse Folk, followed by two folk balls, presented by two live groups. To end the ball on a high note, a druid will serve you the famous, flaming potion, to the Galician bagpipe rhythms of A Contrabanda.
In 2008 Birgit Bornauw, one of the best bagpipe players of her generation in Belgium, met the talented French accordionist Benjamin Macke and formed this duo around traditional music. Inseparable ever since, they have multiplied events to offer folk balls with a varied repertoire that they share with great generosity. When the powerful and warm sound of the Flemish bagpipe meets the sometimes delicate and sometimes disheveled playing of the diatonic accordion…
Calamys presents energetic and warm folk ball concerts, to the sound of a music that is tonic and made to dance. The group breathes a new and nuanced, multicolored spirit into the repertoire from which the dances have been drawn. The musicians invite us to travel to the origins of the dances: Wallonia, Brittany, Central France, Poitou, among others. Their motto is simplicity, dancing and musical performance. An enticing proposition…
