Saturday 18 December 2021 - 19h00
Maison du Peuple de St-Gilles - 37 Parvis de St-Gilles, 1060 St-Gilles
SAT 18/12

Queimada is one of the grand classics of Muziekpublique!

The recipe for this evening is simple: an initiation to folk dancing followed by two folk balls. To end the ball on a high note, the famous, flaming potion will be served by a druid to the Galician rhythms of A Contrabanda.

In 2008 Birgit Bornauw, one of the best bagpipe players of her generation in Belgium, met the talented French accordionist Benjamin Macke to form this duo around traditional music. Inseparable since there, they have multiplied meetings to offer this folk ball with a varied repertoire that they share with great generosity. When the powerful and warm sound of the Flemish bagpipe meets the sometimes delicate and sometimes disheveled playing of the diatonic accordion…
Duo Macke-Bornauw: Birgit Bornauw (bagpipes) and Benjamin Macke (diatonic accordion).

Formed by musicians with many years of experience in the field of folk music, FISTON takes the ambitious path of blending the heritage of traditional Western European grooves with the diverse musical influences of its members, including jazz, balkan music and more generally world music. The compositions proposed by FISTON form a festive, diversified and universal repertoire, accessible to the greatest number of people.

    Anouk Sanczuk: violin
Guillaume Malempre (Tonka, Oakstreet Trio): percussion
