Bata de Cola
Bata de Cola
The Bata de Cola refers both to a traditional flamenco dance style and the distinctive costume worn for it. This style is characterized by expressive spinning movements and the technical control of the dress’s long train (cola). The costume accentuates the dancer’s movements, emphasizing the elegance and passion that are typical of flamenco. The Bata de Cola serves as a powerful visual and emotional expression within the Spanish dance tradition.
The Course
Representing the Sevillian school of flamenco, Saïdjah specializes in dances that incorporate traditional props, such as the Bata de Cola (long-trained dress). In this course, the focus will be on developing the Bata de Cola technique through choreographic training. Saïdjah brings together refined sensuality and elegance with a strong sense of expression, offering a unique and dynamic flamenco experience.
Saïdjah Galo comes from a musical family and was initiated into the world of flamenco in childhood thanks to her mother who herself runs a dance school in Bergamo. After completing her secondary studies, she moved to Seville to further develop her passion by studying at the renowned academy “La fundación Cristina Heeren de Arte Flamenco”. She specializes in the Sevillan school of dancing. In the years that followed, Saïdjah took lessons from various artists such as Andres Peña, Rafael Campallo, Manuel Betanzos, Pila Ogalla etc. She has taught in Ghent, Lille, Antwerp and is regularly invited for workshops abroad. With her classy sensuality, elegance and powerful expression, Saïdjah captures the essence of flamenco.
