Diatonic accordion
Welcome to the group lessons for diatonic accordion!
The workshops will focus on the joy of playing, listening, and creating sound together. Learning will primarily be done by ear, with musical notions gradually introduced in the lessons. The goal is to become independent and develop a closer bond with your instrument. We will work together on knowing the keyboard, communicating with other musicians, playing techniques (styles, phrasing, accompaniment, …), and musical knowledge (rhythm, harmony, …).
Ensemble playing will be central, incorporating riffs, ostinatos, arpeggios, second voices, and counter-melodies so that everyone, depending on their level, can find a place in an arrangement.
The group lessons are not suitable for beginners.
Mathilde Dedeurwaerdere started playing diatonic accordion at the age of 12. Immersed in traditional music, she initially focused on a repertoire of folk dances (attending workshops and group lessons with Françoise Reylandt, Bruno Letron, François Heim, Simone Botasso, …). She then traveled to Ireland to study ensemble music (“Music Performance”), where she discovered street performances and the musical universe of Irish pubs.
As a student at IMEP (Institute of Music and Pedagogy in Namur), she had the opportunity to explore diverse musical repertoires (Classical, Jazz, Contemporary, …). She earned a Master’s degree in accordion and pedagogy there, studying under main teachers Didier Laloy, Jonathan de Neck, and Christophe Delporte.
Currently, she plays in various ensembles (Ostara, Altacc, Zurka Bend, …) and regularly accompanies theater productions, particularly with actor Philippe Vauchel.
