Body percussion
Body percussion is the use of the body as an instrument to produce sound. This course is given in a group setting which allows participants to connect with each other and to develop a common energy in pursuing this rich but relatively unknown musical language.
In this course, Lydie will introduce you to a range of exercises exercises aimed at acquiring a precise vocabulary, sensitising your listening skills, increasing your rhythmic precision and developing your autonomy and creativity. You will also come into contact with various body percussion musical traditions, such as gumboots (South Africa), tari saman (Indonesia) and hambone (America). Lydie will also expose you to the different groups and personalities who have been important for the development of body percussion around the world!
Lydie Thonnard has been passionate about music since childhood. At first she studied the flute, but she quickly developed her interest in improvisation, percussion and rhythmic music in general. She is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in ‘Rhythms and rhythmics’ at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. She is also very active as a musician in various projects, including Auster Loo, Trio O3, Les Chanteuses Anonymes and La Crapaude

Wednesday:
- Beginners: 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
- Intermedtiate/advanced: 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Registration is required from the second course of the cycle.
