Queimada : Duo Nello (FR), La Sialyre (FR), A Contrabanda

Folk Bal
Saturday 4 November 2023 - 19h00
Maison du Peuple de St-Gilles - 37 Parvis de St-Gilles, 1060 St-Gilles
SAT 04/11

As a moment of folklore and music, the Queimada is an essential of Muziekpublique. An exceptional night where we take part in this unifying tradition to have a taste of the drink with magical virtues, a symbol of friendship between the musicians and the public with a background of Galician bagpipes from A Contrabanda. The evening will open with an introduction to dance by our partner Frisse Folk, followed by folk dances with the Frenchs, La Sialyre and Duo Nello.

The duo Nello, composed of Claire Dubonnet and Gabriel Chiapello, is a group that likes to play music essentially for dancing. Young and talented, they will expose their knowledge to the delight of the dancers and listeners ears: singing, accordion, bagpipes, Irish whistle, clarinet, guitar… Their repertoire, taken from traditional French music, also reveals their personal touches, rich within their own compositions. Thus, they will take you on a journey through emotions, making you hit the floor, waltz on it or lose your mind, right in the middle of their colorful and touching universe.

La Sialyre, or known as Nina Lachia and Sylvain Quéré, have put the harmony and energy of the stringed instruments entirely at the service of the dancer. Both playing melodies then accompanying them, exploring all the possibilities of their instruments. Being from the traditional ball scene, Nina and Sylvain put a variety of themes and the pleasure of dancing at the heart of their repertoire !
