With Mi Verdad, the singer Esteban Murillo pays a vibrant tribute to one of the greatest Spanish poets of the 20th century: Federico García Lorca. Working with Lorca’s texts and adapting them to flamenco also means addressing a moment that has particularly marked the history of Spain: the Civil War and the Franco regime. Other flamenco letters are written by Paco Murillo, Esteban’s grandfather.
On stage, Esteban Murillo tells his story, that of his grandfather, and shares his Andalusian culture through a show that combines sensitivity, intensity and authenticity. In addition to flamenco guitar, traditional dance and percussion, instruments rarely associated with flamenco, such as piano, electric bass and accordion, add a unique touch to the ‘décor’ to make this an innovative, modern and totally original project, without distorting the traditional flamenco color.
Mi Verdad combines the voice, the guitar, ‘el duende’, of Esteban Murillo, Anthony Carruba’s guitar ‘EL CARRU’, Giacomo Aronica’s bass, Silvano Macaluso’s piano, François Taillefer’s percussions, and, on stage, the talents and grace of the dancer Marisol Valderama.
