Tango guitar and Argentine music
Argentine tango is known for its intricate rhythms and irregular tempo, but also for its passionate melodies. This is what makes this dance so sensual and the music so intoxicating! Although the bandoneón is now tango’s most famous instrument, the guitar is the instrument that gave birth to tango. When tango emerged in Argentina in the late 19th century, the guitar formed the rhythmic basis of the first instrumental trios, which also included a violin and a flute.
the Course
The Tango Guitar and Argentine Music course offers a practical and creative approach to discovering the guitar in various contexts: as an accompaniment instrument, within an ensemble, or as a soloist.
Through tango, Argentine folk music, and other Latin American influences, you will develop harmonic, rhythmic, improvisational, and compositional skills, while enriching your musical vocabulary and versatility as a guitarist.
This course is for students of all levels, from beginners to intermediate and advanced guitarists. It is open to all types of guitars and all techniques, on classical, acoustic, or electric guitar.
Each student, depending on his or her level and skills, will be able to find an appropriate role in the context of tango. Beginners will find it easy to play rhythmic accompaniment roles, while the more advanced can explore solos, arrangements and more.
Camilo Cordoba is an Argentinian artist and one of the most renowned and active tango guitarists in Europe. He studied Tango and Jazz at the EMPA conservatory under the supervision of great masters in the music such as Anibal Arias, Javier Cohen and Guillermo Klein. Between 2005 and 2015, he toured more than 70 times in Europe, South and North America with his tango-fusion band “Violentango”. Since 2015 he has been living in Brussels and joined the ensemble “SONICO”, with which he travels through Europe at a rate of 50 concerts per year, as well as making appearances in the most prestigious festivals in the world, such as Glastonbury, Great Amber Hall or Pietrasanta en Concerto.

Individual classes or in duo (10 courses/cycle)
Tuesday: 5:00 pm – 08:00 pm
