Courses overview

Folk violin

Oscar Beerten
MABO - Lycée Maria-Boodschap - Rue de la Braie 22, 1000 Bruxelles

the course

Welcome to the folk violin class! The lessons are divided into two groups: intermediate and advanced.

In the intermediate group, we focus on introducing folk repertoire from Northern countries, especially Scandinavia. Here, you will learn tunes often played during jam sessions in these regions, with a strong emphasis on playing together.

For the advanced group, we delve deeper into technique, more complex repertoire, and improvisation across various styles of folk violin playing. We will also specifically focus on music from Scandinavia and the Northern countries, which is a significant part of our study.

Music theory is not mandatory!

A basic level of the instrument is required. Unsure about your level? Contact Muziekpublique at cursus@muziekpublique.be.
