There could be no better place in Brussels for this astonishing Czech quartet to offer you this musical experience. Describing themselves as a living laboratory, the musicians of Clarinet Factory have the ability to make the impressive spheres of the ULB’s high voltage laboratory vibrate without any amplification! Their music, with its classical background, is nudged by influences from jazz, minimalism and their love of world music. Their clarinets blend perfectly – the electricity is enough to make your hair stand on end! These strange scientific premises, totally unknown, were created in the 1940s to test the resistance of the high voltage power-lines that criss-cross our countryside. At times up to 750,000 volts were sent through these large sphères, which glowed with blue light at the time.

A guided visit of the ULB’s Solbosch site, organized by Brukselbinnenstebuiten will round off the programme, with a talk about the development and the major advances of this campus in the heart of Ixelles.
