SÉAMUS & CAOIMHE UÍ FHLATHARTA

Originating from the village of An Áird Mhóir in the Gaeltacht region of Connemara (County Galway), Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta were born into a family deeply rooted in Irish musical traditions. Winners of the Best Emerging Artists award at the RTÉ Folk Awards, the brother and sister duo masterfully perform sean nós singing (traditional Gaelic singing) with a unique twist. They have a talent for vocal arrangements and harmonizations, performing with a synergy that only family members can share. Multi-instrumentalists and nationally acclaimed dancers, Séamus and Caoimhe bring the rich heritage of the Irish language to life through captivating music that touches the heart.

BURIAL GALLERIES OF SINT-JANS-MOLENBEEK

The Molenbeek Cemetery, designed by Joseph Praet, stands as one of Brussels’ most ancient burial grounds. Its funerary galleries, built in the neoclassical style from 1880 to 1910, were officially recognized in 2007 for their profound historical, artistic, aesthetic, and social significance. These galleries introduced a novel approach to burial, placing the departed above ground in a structured arrangement, both horizontally and vertically. With nearly 2,500 funerary niches spanning 4 to 6 stories, the design maximizes space compared to traditional cemetery layouts. During recent renovations, the main gallery was adorned with a modern steel and glass canopy, replacing an original glass roof from its inauguration. The cemetery is also home to several remarkable architectural treasures, including the Monument to the Boatmen, the Cressonnières Family Monument, and the Van Den Bemden Family Chapel.
