Sara Salverius & SUN*SUN*SUN: ‘Pendulum’

Accordionist Sara Salvérius delves into the depths of movement and tranquility through her musical compositions. Her aim is to encapsulate the unpredictable essence of life through sound. In her latest project, “Pendulum,” she joins forces with the distinctive string quartet Sun* Sun* Sun*. Known not only for their bold artistic endeavors but also for their unparalleled sound identity, they prove to be an ideal match for Sara’s creative vision.

In a unique collaboration, Sara and her husband, violin maker Pieter Goossens, ensure that all instruments used in “Pendulum” are crafted from the same source of wood.  Made from the same type of wood and crafted by the same artisan, the four instruments blend and harmonize perfectly together. Pendulum is all about connections. Connection between extremes. Joy and sorrow. Good and evil. Inner world and outward expression. And amidst all these extremes: a point of stillness. A fleeting pause where opposites touch and the pendulum finds its delicate balance.

PARAPLUFABRIQUE

The old E. Fischer & Co umbrella factory has stood the test of time since 1896. At its peak, about thirty workers crafted nearly 50,000 umbrellas a year in this charming, historic spot. However, in the 1970s, the massive influx of umbrellas from Asia caused a significant drop in Belgian production. By 1990, output had dwindled to just 13,354 umbrellas. Fischer eventually remained the last Belgian manufacturer. The company changed hands in 2022, and the building went up for sale in 2023.
