CONCERT CANCELLED

]The musicians of the Humazapas collective from the Kichwa communities and from the Ecuadorian Andes have been working for more than ten years on this deeply human project. It brings them “back to their roots”, witnessing the deep connection with their culture, their language, their dance, the rituals that connect them to their gods and of course to their music. This has an undeniably Andean aesthetic. The female voice with particularly high pitches, the wide variety of flutes accompanied by harps, guitars and mandolins are all assemblages reminiscent of those of other Andean regions, but whose rhythms and melodies are specific to the Kichwa populations of Imbabura.

The members of the Humazapas collective intervene in ritual contexts but are also leading actors through their investment in the preservation and transmission of repertoires to younger generations. Dressed in their traditional clothes, they also wear the mask of Abago rituals for their stage performances, with which they create the link between the world of the living and that of the dead.
