Zoniënklanken is a day made of walks and music in the Soignes forest. Put on your walking boots and choose your route of either 5, 10, or 15 km. Open your ears because you will find on your way talented musicians such as Shao Huan, Les kickeuses, Chapulines, Shak Shakito or the American Roots Ensemble who will play for you in the enchanting surrounding of the forest.
Shao Huan is a true master of the Sheng, a vocal Organ from China. He studied traditional Chinese music at the National Taiwan University of Art and has performed in Canada and Indonesia, among others. Les kickeuses is a duo formed after a beautiful encounter between Juliette Ferreira and Lolita Pariaud. Their accordion and transverse flute song repertoire mainly consists of traditional tunes and compositions from Western Europe, animating folk balls or offered as part of more intimate concerts. Chapulines offers a musical journey through a unique interpretation of jarocho sound, a type of traditional Mexican music combined with Caribbean rhythms and Cuban or even Colombian sounds. Shak Shakito is an artist from Oriental Kasaï, a province located in the center of the DRC. It was in Kinshasa that he developed his passion for the guitar to back up texts he wrote. As a talented composer and musician, he developed his own style inspired by both folk and rumba. To end on a high note, the American Roots Ensemble will play, in the garden of the WaBo cultural center, traditional Western music born of the great migrations to the United States in the 19th century.
