Wouter Vandenabeele has a passion for exploring and discovering diverse music. He led the prestigious Hadzidakis project for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, collaborating with the singers of Madredeus. In addition, he has recorded around twenty CDs and performed hundreds of concerts with groups such as Ambrozijn, Olla Vogala, and numerous other projects like Zuiderwind (EMI), a collaboration with South African musicians.
Amidst numerous collaborations, Bao Sissoko encountered Wouter Vandenabeele’s violin over ten years ago in the project La musique d’Issa Sow, centered around Senegalese traditional violinist Issa Mbaye Diary Sow. Since then, they have formed an inseparable bond, performing together in ensembles such as Tamala and other configurations like Chansons. As a duo, they share an extraordinary connection, creating a marvelous tension between tradition and improvisation.
A concert at Agata’s
Agata’s house, nestled in the serene Sonian Forest, fosters a deep connection with nature, often welcoming local wildlife such as cats, birds, foxes and hedgehogs. Despite having been burgled twice, isolation is not an option here. Instead, the family’s response to these intrusions has been to open up even more. The Living Room Music Winter Sessions are perfectly timed.
Agata is passionate about traditional music, especially from Southeast Asia and North Africa. She firmly believes that music is a universal language that connects people beyond borders, heals traumas and creates a sense of community. This home is a comfortable space where music brings people together and connects them.
