Follow Uma Ramakrishnan for an interactive session on Carnatic music (South India), one of the oldest forms of classical music in the world. We will have an overview of the melodic scales, rhythm and instruments involved in this system. Unique features of Carnatic music like gamakas that makes it stand out from other genres of music will be discussed. The session will also propose a discussion on various figures of composers.
Uma Ramakrishnan is an established Carnatic Singer and guru. She has been performing in India, Europe and Caribbean countries for the past 3 decades. She is the founder and director for Amrithavarshini Trust, Bangalore and Amrithavarshini Belgie, Brussels. She has taught to more than 300 students worldwide. She is also trained in veena and konnakkol.
