Bal & Basta!

Göze & Duo Artense
Saturday 12 October 2024 - 16h00
Pianofabriek - Rue du Fort 35, 1060 Bruxelles (St Gilles)
SAT 12/10

Bal & Basta is back for the 2024 season with a fantastic lineup. Come dance to the infectious rhythms of this colorful folk ball!

Göze

Göze brings together two standout names from the Belgian bal folk scene. From 2003 to 2012, Göze was the musical project of Maarten Decombel (guitar) and Wim Claeys (diatonic accordion). They honed their craft in the intimate setting of house concerts, where their warm, introspective folk truly shone. They released two duo albums: “Gezellig Onderuit Zonder Elektriek” (2004) and “Quand On Est Bien Amoureux” (2008). Between these projects, they toured as a quartet with French folk icons Gilles Chabenat and Frédéric Paris, recording the album “Live En Flandre” (2006). At the same time, they played hundreds of dances across the country, riding the new wave initiated by Wim’s Boombal. Since 2012, other projects like “Snaarmaarwaar” and Wim’s musical theater have taken up more of their schedules, but every now and then — like at this Bal & Basta! — they come together to perform. Don’t miss the rare chance to see these talented folk musicians in their original lineup!

Musicians:

  • Maarten Decombel: guitar
  • Wim Claeys: diatonic accordion

DUO ARTENSE

“A dynamic duo bringing subtle and rhythmic music from the Artense plateau. Basile and Hervé masterfully make this music their own, with a musical humor that is far from derisive, staying true to its essence. Their approach is simply based on their love for this music.” – AEPEM

The Duo Artense features Basile Brémaud, who dedicates himself wholeheartedly to the violin music of Auvergne. He develops his own vision of this music, deeply connected to singing and dancing. In perfect harmony with Hervé, Basile embraces the rich and complex music of the Artense, appreciating both its traditional elements and the modern influences that have shaped the playing of its violinists. Hervé Capel, immersed in the traditional music and dances of Auvergne from a young age, complements the Massif Central repertoire perfectly with his experience and sensitivity. His skill on the chromatic accordion and his passion for Auvergne music infuse it with energy, swing, and variation, keeping this music vibrant and contemporary.

Musicians:

  • Basile Brémaud: violin and vocals
  • Hervé Capel: chromatic accordion
