START OF SEASON: AN EVENING WITH OUR TEACHERS
Muziekpublique Academy offers around fifty traditional music and dance courses from September to June. These courses are taught by the finest artists from the Belgian music scene, renowned beyond its borders. The unique offering, unparalleled in Europe, is refined and expanded each year.
This Start of Season will provide you with a glimpse into the artistic and musical talents of the new courses offered this year. Prepare for a surprising evening with solos, duos, trios, and other combinations. You will witness unexpected crossings, moments of emotion, passion, and joy.
- Oscar Beerten, one of the great talents of folk violin, specializes in both Scandinavian and Hungarian traditions, with a deep affinity for West African music.
- Sina Kienou, a prodigious guitarist from West Africa, combines virtuosity and great sensitivity in his interpretations.
- Renato Martins, a Brazilian percussionist, is an expert in pandeiro (tambourine), cajón, and udu.
- Camilo Córdoba, an Argentine guitarist, and his compatriot Gerardo Agnese, a bandoneonist, are among the finest representatives of European tango.
- Mohamed El Korchi, despite his young age, is hailed as one of the greatest talents of the qanûn, the Arabic psaltery.
- Dimitrios Rossidis, a Greek singer and member of the Minor Asia trio, excels in rebetiko, laïko, and smyrneiko.
- Marc Lelangue, guitarist and singer, is a major figure in Belgian blues, passionate about folk blues.
- Saïdjah Galo (dance) and Antonio Paz (singing, cajón, palmas, guitar) embody the elegance and strength of Belgian flamenco.
- Fredy Massamba, a Congolese singer, captivates his audiences in Belgium and abroad with his voice and charisma.
