Tuur Florizoone (Be) Luiz Mura (Brazil)

Friday 7 April 2023 - 20h00
Molière Theatre - Galerie de la Porte de Namur, 3 Square du Bastion, 1050 Bruxelles
FRI 07/04

The friendship between Tuur Florizoone and Luiz Murá sparked as soon as they met. Tuur, a Belgian accordionist, has lived in Brazil for a year at the age of seventeen and worked there with street children. Brazilian singer and guitarist, Luiz Murakami, has been inspired for years by his multiple family origins (Brazilian, Japanese, Portuguese, Calabrian and Sicilian) for his bossa nova compositions. They will both perform for their first solo each on the same stage, and will end the evening with a duet.

Very quickly, accordionist Tuur Florizoone has become one of the country’s most beloved musicians. It merges jazz, folk, classical music and film music in a warm and catchy combination filled with joy and emotion. With his solo album “Night Shift”, released in the middle of the pandemic, he helped comfort people through his healing music.

Fascinated by bossa nova, improvisation, jazz and traditional music, Luiz Murá tries to connect Brazil with melodies and rhythms from all over the world. His latest album “Origem” is a tribute to João Gilberto’s music, who passed in summer 2019. With his Brazilian rosewood guitar “Jacarandá Bahia”, he gets close to the bossa nova tradition in the most authentic way. And as we can read in the press: “He does as many small miracles with his fingers, as he does with his sunny voice”.
