First, let your nose get inebriated by the scents that float in the air of the Savonneries Bruxelloises, an almost century-old soap factory located in Laeken. Then, let your ears wander, thanks to Estonia’s Duo Ruut’s typical melodies. We propose you a delicate mixture, a subtle evening, an unforgettable encounter of the senses.
The Duo Ruut shares a single instrument, the traditional Estonian kannel. Belonging to the zither family, it usually gets played by a single person. However, Katariina Kivi and Ann-Lisett Rebane decided to divert its usage and, placing themselves on opposite sides of the instrument, to pinch the kannel’s chords with their four hands. Adding their voices to the chords, with their young and lively outlook about the world, they chant, in a revisited manner, the Baltic universe. We can feel the North wind blow in their music. The echo of a tradition gets perpetuated thanks to their vision, their point of view.
The almost centenary Savonneries Bruxelloises soap factory, where you will be welcomed, has recently been taken over by two friends who perpetuate the craftsmanship and the quality initiated by their predecessors. The concert will take place in the large hall where thousands of pieces of soap are produced every day.
Please note that this event starts at 20:30.
