Brazilian Music Ensemble

Everton Firmeza
MABO - Lycée Maria-Boodschap - Rue de la Braie 22, 1000 Bruxelles

The ensemble’s name says it all! Join us and discover the rich, vibrant world of Brazilian Music: a musical tradition that continues to inspire audiences around the world with it’s energy, diversity and joy.

Led by Brazilian bassist and composer Everton Firmeza, this ensemble is an opportunity to explore a wide range of Brazilian rhythms and styles while developping your musical skills in a welcoming and inclusive environment. Everton brings not only a deep knowledge of the repertoire, but also a passion for sharing the joy of making music together.

In this ensemble, you’ll have the chance to play your instrument, sing together (em português, claro!), and connect with fellow musicians of all backgrounds and experience levels. Everyone is welcome, regardless of instrument or previous experience with Brazilian music.

Together, we’ll explore a rich repertoire spanning from the 19th century to the present day, including styles such as samba, choro, forró, frevo, maracatú, funk carioca, and musch more. We’ll learn songs in Portuguese (don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a singer yet!), discover the cultural stories behind the music, and pick a few anecdotes and expressions from Brazil along the way.
