Queimada is one of the grand classics of Muziekpublique!
The recipe for this evening is simple: an initiation to folk dancing followed by two folk balls (Cam&Léon and La Lanterne). To end the ball on a high note, the famous, flaming potion will be served by a druid to the Galician rhythms of A Contrabanda.
French duo, Cam&Léon, reunites violinist Camille Stimbre and accordionist, Léon Ollivier, whom we know from the folk quatuor Bargainatt. They promise to bring energy to the dancefloor as they strive to create new dance music inspired from the repertoire of European folk dances.
La Lanterne (BE/FR) is the new project of Belgian accordionist, Guus Herremans (La Bottine Artistique) with three French musicians: Nans Casanovas (guitar), Camille Stimbre (violin) and Johann Abadie (drums/percussions). Together, the four musicians with diverse musical backgrounds produce original and powerful music that sounds contemporary but is steeped in tradition. They have recently released their first CD.
