Sardinian singing is one of the most celebrated forms of polyphonic expression in the Mediterranean world. The vocal ensemble Cuncordu e Tenore de Orosei holds a place of distinction within the rich and varied landscape of traditional Sardinian music, and for good reason. Their performances carry an intensity that is impossible to ignore and their repertoire is unlike anything else in the tradition.

These singers are the devoted custodians of a musical heritage passed down through generations, keeping alive two distinct vocal forms: a cuncordu, songs honouring the Passion of Christ, and a tenore, ancient pastoral songs whose unique character has earned UNESCO recognition as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The sacred repertoire was transmitted through religious brotherhoods and is rich with ornamental complexity, intricate harmonies, transpositions, and gliding chords that seem to resonate from another era. The secular songs, meanwhile, pulse with life: songs for celebration, for dancing, for love.

With deep pride, the singers of Cuncordu e Tenore de Orosei carry this centuries-old polyphonic tradition forward, and every performance is a testament to its enduring power.
