Lydie Thonnard

@ CYCLUP Atelier-Boutique
Wednesday 19 August 2026 - 12h30
CYCLUP - Rue Haute 298c, 1000 Bruxelles
WED 19/08

After ten years of acclaimed collaborations in projects like Auster Loo and Les Chanteuses Anonymes, collaborations that have produced over ten albums, Lydie Thonnard is finally ready to step into the spotlight alone. For the first time, this artist who honed her craft at the Royal Conservatories of Liège and Brussels, learned from masters like Toon Fret, Philippe Laloy and Henri Tournier and explored traditional music from Ecuador to India, unveils her intimate universe with her solo project L’évidence des nuages (The Evidence of Clouds).

Armed with her flutes, voice, body percussion and foot bass, she presents a repertoire of original compositions. It’s a journey weaving together Western classical music, arrangements of traditional pieces (predominantly Belgian) and oral traditions from diverse cultures. On stage, she explores the connection between rhythm, body and voice, pouring out music that’s both poetic and danceable. A revelatory, sensitive and singular musical baring of the soul that transcends genres.

CYCLUP Atelier-Boutique

Push open the door at CYCLUP and you step straight into a creative playground. Humming machines, fabric everywhere, limited-edition pieces hanging around, welcome to this part-atelier, part-boutique tucked away in the heart of the Marolles. One of those addresses that gives a neighbourhood its pulse.

The detail that changes everything? Behind every piece, you’ll find people rebuilding their careers and learning the craft from scratch. The atelier is run by Job Office and the City of Brussels’ social welfare office. Here, you sharpen your technique and your creativity while rewriting your own story. Sewing, pattern-making, styling, no secret is safe from the seamstresses-in-training, who turn raw fabric into magic.

In this little hive buzzing to the rhythm of sewing machines, ecology meets economy. Zero-waste spirit: fabrics get a second life, second-hand pieces get a third. A stage costume? A made-to-measure something for your lovely self? Curtains to die for? Chances are, you’ll find your piece in this not-quite-like-the-others atelier-boutique. Tempted to walk away with a head-turner after the gig? Everything made here ends up on the racks downstairs. Just saying.
