Hamraaz is a duo inspired by the beauty of modality, the expressive depth of the duduk and flute, and the rich, dynamic rhythms of the tanbour and tar. Lucie Lelaurain and Khorshid Dadbeh met at Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, where they discovered a shared vision of contemporary music deeply rooted in the modal traditions of Iran and Armenia.
After years of performing together on leading stages and festivals such as the Concertgebouw and Into The Great Wide Open, Lucie and Khorshid developed a strong musical bond. Their music unfolds as a dialogue between their instruments—open, attentive, and intuitive. This interplay creates an immersive listening experience that invites the audience into stillness and deeper reflection.
Nature plays a central role in their musical world. For Hamraaz, music reflects its breath, movement, and layered complexity. With their new album Abar Kuh, they further deepen their exploration of modal soundscapes, where space, resonance, and time play an essential role.
On Abar Kuh, Hamraaz is joined by two special guest musicians : and percussionist Zilan Hasret Yildiz.
Musiciens:
Lucie Lelaurain: duduk, flutes
Khorshid Dadbeh: tanbour, tar
Sepand Dadbeh: oud
Zilan Hasret Yildiz: percussion, vocals
A concert at The Faculty
The Faculty is no ordinary concert venue. This Flemish Neo-Renaissance building, constructed in 1892 to house Cureghem’s great veterinary school, has lived through over a century of history before being carefully restored. The original parquet floors, the mouldings, the mosaic tiles, all preserved. Tonight, music fills the former proclamation hall, on the building’s magnificent upper floor. A venue just outside the city centre, and well worth the journey.
