If Brussels had a signature sound like Lisbon’s fado or Buenos Aires’ tango, it would probably be Peixe e Limão. With their warm, melancholic voices, the trio sings about urban life in multiple languages, reflecting the soul of the European capital, a true crossroads of sounds, flavours and cultures. Just like this world city that is Brussels, this adventurous trio spices up their repertoire with influences from elsewhere: from bossa to flamenco and Irish folk, woven into deeply personal songs.
The three musicians’ personalities complement each other beautifully. Federico Bragetti plays the cello in a unique way, using it not only as a voice or bass, but also as a percussion instrument, adding remarkable depth to Peixe e Limão’s sonic textures. His fellow Italian Flavia Clementi, a born singer, started singing spontaneously but possesses that rare natural musicality and vocal warmth that instantly captivates. Finally, there’s Thomas Van Bogaert from Bruges, a classically trained guitarist with a gift for weaving melodies that stay with you.
