Immerse yourself in the centuries-old musical form of chaabi during the unique Habibi Connection concert. Let yourself be carried away by the enchanting rhythms and melodies, where uplifting energy and poetic intensity come together. This concert is a collaborative project by vzw HalfMOon, KVS, Muziekpublique, Darna, the AB, and Cinemamed to celebrate 60 years of Moroccan immigration and serves as the perfect festive conclusion to the Chaabi Habibi festival.

The Chaabi Habibi festival was launched in 2019 by HalfMOon, the non-profit organization founded by the multi-talented musician Laïla Amezian. The festival is entirely dedicated to the musical heritage of chaabi and its practice by women from the Moroccan diaspora in Belgium. Chaabi literally means ‘popular’ and is an urban version of typical Moroccan popular and traditional songs, performed at folk celebrations and dedicated to dance. Chaabi Habibi is also a tribute to the Ghanayats and Shikhats, female musicians who powerfully and convincingly spread the message of freedom.

Habibi Connection symbolizes the unbreakable bond that unites all lovers of this art form, with love at its core.
