After countless tours abroad with artists like Aka Moon or Ray Lema, Fredy Massamba will finally play at home, in Matonge, his own neighborhood, for the presentation of his album Trancestral. From his first passion for rumba in his native district of Point-Noire, in Congo-Brazzaville, to the discovery of hip-hop in the 1990s, from the co-founding of Tambours de Brazza to his collaboration with Ray Lema, the Congolese singer Fredy Massamba sketched the world with an insatiable curiosity, as if to better understand where it came from.
Trancestral, third solo album, follows in the tradition of his latest adventures with Ray Lema, his mentor in musicology from the Black Continent: the same polyphonic abundance, the same rhythmic flowering, to re-enchant a vast Congolese repertoire that he never stopped exploring. Pygmy yodeling on the very beautiful track, ngoma drums, funk or hip-hop sessions… each song is like a painting, which he crosses with his soul voice, in Kikongo, the language of exquisite swing, and in Lingala, always happy to chat. One thing is certain, this concert will be a great party!
