Samba Touré, considered as one of Mali’s best guitar players, grew up in the Timbuktu region. He perpetuates the legendary musical heritage of Ali Farka Touré, the grand “king of African blues”, who passed away in 2006.
Samba traveled the world over with Ali Farka Touré in order to discover multiple musical tendencies, which he combines with the West African style. The result is an eclectic, experimental, unique sound that pleases a great number of people, in his homeland and everywhere else. After the success of ‘Wande’, Samba Touré honors his roots and the Songhaï music with his new album, ‘Binga’ (Glitterbeat). Though his music is sometimes labeled, in a restrictive manner, “desert blues”, the truth is that he proposes a great number of different styles and artists. With his powerful and refined groove, Samba wishes to transmit, to his public, the real essence of Songhaï music. He sublimates it with master ngoni player Djimé Sissoko and the great Souleymand Kane on percussions.
