Gaizca’s objective is to unite the traditional and folkloric music of Galicia, the Basque Country and Catalonia. Within a contemporary perspective of opening up to the world, Gaizca aims to favor exchanges and to produce an original creation in order to highlight the individual identities, their singularities and their histories. The group offers a vibrant show by adding Ialma’s voice to the tambourines, the harmonica and the Basque diatonic accordion. In addition, it features the txalaparta (a percussion instrument made of beams), played by the Basque Iñaki Plaza, as well as the gralla and the tenora, two double reed instruments of the oboe family, played by the Catalan Manu Sabate.

Notably, this musical creation received one of the most important French traditional music prizes, the prestigious Coup de Cœur, from the Charles Cros Academy, in the beginning of 2020. The ensemble also won the Indie Acoustic Awards. We are, therefore, particularly happy that this project can, at last, be presented in Brussels.
