Muziekpublique and PointCulture ULB invite you on a Flamenco music travel.
Antonio Paz was born in Brussels. He was immersed in flamenco at the earliest age. He learned his first “letras” during bicycle rides with his father, a guitarist. In the same period he started receiving musical theory and piano lessons. At age 14, Antonio Paz starts performing as a “cantor de atrás” (a singer that accompanies the dance) in various Benelux theatres. In order to increase his musical range, he decides to tour, during four years, in Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaisia, …), where he performs with the best local musicians.
When he returns to Spain, he is seen in various theatres and flamenco festivals, alongside artists such as Carmen Linares, El Cabrero, Chano Lobato, Miguel Poveda, Aurora Vargas, Juana Amaya, Rafael del Carmen, Rafael Amargo…
He participates in various CDs: A mi vera (J. Baptiste Marino), Le bal des suds (Louis Winsberg), Moscatel (arrangements and music in collaboration with Antonio Paz Sr) and Terrain vague (Anne Niepold). His experience, as well as his knowledge of the “compas” and of the danse make him a valued asset in the flamenco world.
The Muziek • Culture project offers a series of free concerts, concerts that showcase an instrument, or group of instruments, its country and its culture. In short, an invitation to travel, to discover, to adventure in a very friendly atmosphere in the heart of the Solbosch campus.
