BASta! started off as a solo project of the double bass player and composer Joris Vanvinckenroye. Performing with his double bass and loops, Joris naturally threads together elements of classical, rock, jazz and folk music. His double bass orchestra was recently joined by the flautist Jana Arns and they became the BASta!² duo. Their album “Vertigo” offers unique, straightforward and hypnotic music.
The sextet Aranis will be presenting its CD “Smells like Aranis” following 10 years of new, adventurous and contradictory music. It is at once dark and light, beautiful and ugly, simple and complex. But this uniqueness also has many musical influences. You can expect compositions inspired by 800 year old music, original interpretations of the 90s cult band Nirvana, and quirky nu-trad.
