Taitamuki is the contraction of two Quechua words: taita meaning father/ancestor/sage and amuki meaning silence. The wisdom of silence, the ancestral silence and the silence of the ancestors offer both sources of inspiration and a world to discover. The ancestors give the quartet a mission: not to let the music go silent at a time when traditional music is struggling to spread and survive.

Taitamuki’s interpretations, arrangements and personal compositions are the result of research into little-known Latin American rhythms and sound like an act of resistance. The band tries to make the rhythms resonate with the universe of each musician, with respect for the musical heritage. Each piece takes you to a place, a culture, a tradition. Discover san juanito from Ecuador, candombe from Uruguay, maxixe from Brazil, chacarera from Argentina, takirari from Bolivia and other surprises from the rich Latin American continent in this lively album presentation.
