Guitar Wizzards
Wednesday 2 December 2026 - 20h00
Hexagon - Rue de Ligne 8, 1000 Brussels
WED 02/12

This evening, we present three extraordinary guitarists. Sam Grassie, raised in Glasgow and now based in London, was described by the Bert Jansch Foundation as one of the best folk guitarists of his generation — his debut EP Sandwood (2024) blends Celtic melody with desert blues rhythms.

Dylan Fowler was born in Tripoli (Libya) in 1956, grew up in South Wales, and over forty years has built a body of work that combines Celtic tradition with European jazz, Balkan, and Scandinavian influences. He was once a music therapist for people with disabilities, co-founded the Welsh-Finnish trio Taith, and was the driving force behind the Welsh band ‘Alaw’.

Haroun Iqbal, from Flanders, found his way to the guitar via a circuitous route: first jazz and classical, then West African music (via the Senegalese kora player Bao Sissokko), and ultimately the Indian raga tradition, which he learned from the Pakistani sarod player Asad Qizilbash. In 2025, Flemish radio station Klara selected him for De Twintigers.

Together, they create an exceptional guitar concert, presenting their compositions—rich in traditional influences and improvisation—both solo and in ensemble.
