Christine Zayed Trio
Christine Zayed, Palestinian singer and virtuoso instrumentalist, takes up her qanun and her poetry to restore hope in humanity. With nearly 20 years of experience, her repertoire is deeply rooted in the traditions of classical Arabic music, maqam, taqsim, mawwal, while her original compositions carry a distinctly contemporary voice. In 2024, she released Kama Kuntu, an album that perfectly reflects the balance she strikes between tradition and innovation.
But Christine is more than a musician, she is a storyteller. Her compositions delve into themes of displacement, identity and resilience, resonating with the complex history of her homeland.
On stage, the Christine Zayed Trio brings these stories to life through the rich melodic textures of the qanun, the depth of Christine’s voice, the flutes and duduk of Sylvain Barou and the percussion of Habib Meftah. Sylvain, a captivating flutist, weaves together Breton and Irish traditions with Hindustani, Turkish, Armenian and Iranian influences. Habib, rooted in the rhythmic traditions of southern Iran, adds his unique signature by fusing a variety of cultural soundscapes.
The trio’s music evokes complex subjects such as belonging, loss and transformation in a world constantly shifting. This concert is an opportunity to experience a heartfelt dialogue between past and present, tradition and personal expression, through music that feels both timeless and deeply urgent.
