Every week more than 600 students take part in courses on music and dance from around the world at Muziekpublique’s Academy. They learn the oud, diphonic singing, oriental percussion, the flamenco cajon, the tango, the boleadoras, the cavaquinho, gipsy (“manouche”) violin or the kora. Others learn to play together the repertoire of Turkish musical traditions, various kinds of music from the Balkans or folk music from across Europe. They improve their mastery of an instrument and discover through this experience the richness of the culture in question. Then they share musical moments with their teachers and other students.
Traditionally, the End Of Season throws the spotlight on the students and their teachers. In the course of these two shows they will present their work, the fruit of several weeks of study, and in this way, thanks to them, all the musical cultures that live, blossom, and intermingle in Brussels will be have a chance to resound.
Come and applaud them, and who knows?… perhaps next year you will be among them, treading the boards of the Molière.
