Zoniënklanken is a big musical walk through the Sonian forest! Put on your walking shoes and leave for 5, 10, 15 or 20 km to discover the sounds of the forest and of world music in fantastic natural surroundings: 4000 ha woods, 5 natural reserves and a rare fauna. You may encounter animals such as the Korean squirrel, the common chiffchaff or the fire salamander! But you will most of all discover great musicians.
The youngest of a family of Burkinan griots, Kaito Winse masters the art of the Guinean flute, the mouth bow, singing and the tama (talking drum) like no one else can. His music is strongly linked to the nature and evokes different emotions: from despair to extasy or curative trance.
Euforró, a word created from euphoria and forró, bring groovy dance music for north-eastern Brazil. The band, surrounding the singer Alice Leal Loparic, makes in any case a great party!
One of the remarkable names in Klara’s Twintigers of 2021, a section where the radio puts in the spotlight a generation of young musicians that will make a difference, is Adil Benshain. Adil Benhsain studied as violist in the conservatorium of Maastricht, but also plays the darbouka (Arabic vase drum), but overall the oud (Arabic lute).
Guus Herremans is one of our most promising folk musicians. The diatonic accordionist made himself know with the bands Les Bottines Artistiques, A12, MeGuusta and Airboxes, but also as a duet with the Occitan singer-musician Guillaume Lopez. In the Sonian forest, he will seduce hikers with his best melodies.
In the GC Wabo garden, the Manouche Jazz Muziekpublique ensemble, under the direction of Renaud Dardenne (guitar), will bring back to life the ambiance of Django.
