Two voices: one belonging to a double bassist and one to a Sicilian singer who also plays percussion. Together they sing and play songs with a long history: serenades, seefarers’ and workmen’s songs and other songs inspired by European and, in particular, Italian traditions, enriched with personal arrangements and some original compositions.
On their second CD, ‘Pandora e Cumpagnia’, Emanuela Lodato and Vincent Noiret continue in the same vein as their previous offering ‘Eredita’ (Italian for heritage) paying tribute to the rich musical traditions of Sicily and the South of Italy. They also include a number of songs which only survived thanks to the dedicated work of committed folk-song collectors. In this project love of tradition and an eye for renewal go hand in hand. With a sense of fun and with the assistance of the young Sicilian Virginia Maiorana this promises to be a fascinating and highly enjoyable CD presentation. Add guest musician Toon Van Mierlo to the mix and the audience is guaranteed to experience both the refinement and the powerful energy of Mediterranean culture.
