Do you know the music of Madagascar? Have you ever heard of Salegy, Tsapiky, Baoejy, Bagasy, Trotrobe, Rodoringa…?

Madagascar is the third largest island in the world and has many different styles of music to offer. This ensemble will let you discover the musical richness of this island. You will learn the followings things:

– play a melody with ease and master the rhythm in 12/8 measure
– Introduction to Katsaha percussion (traditional percussion from Madagascar)
– Playing the Kabosy (ukulele Malagash)

Guitarists will also learn various techniques: ‘Palm mute’, picking in 12/8, open tuning: Bagasy, etc. This will enrich your playing and
instrumental practice. The aim of this course is also to bring out the originality and musical colour of each player. Improvisation will also play a major role.

All instruments are welcome! You don’t need any knowledge in musical theory.
