De Queimada is the great classic in our program. The communal drinking of the queimada, the magical beverage, symbolizes the friendship between musicians and the audience and is accompanied by the Galician bagpipe group A Contrabanda. We open the evening with a dance initiation by our partner Frisse Folk, followed by folk balls featuring two groups where transverse flutes play a central role: Les Kickeuses and NordestiNoz.
Les Kickeuses is a duo born from the encounter between Juliette Ferreira and Lolita Pariaud. Their repertoire of accordion and flute consists mainly of traditional melodies and Western European compositions, interspersed with a few danceable songs. It’s impossible to stand still when this duo is giving it their all. We are particularly honored that during this Queimada, they will present their first and highly anticipated album, Radio Lambert.
Musicians :
Juliette Ferreira: flutes, vocals
Lolita Pariaud: accordion, stompbox, vocals
NordestiNoz is a musical journey connecting two regional cultures. From one Atlantic coast to the other: the forró balls of Brazil’s northeastern region are cousins to the festoù-noz of Brittany. As living cultural heritage, these dance festivals celebrate tradition and the joy of togetherness. Melodies and rhythms blend and sweep us into the dance: the rond de Saint-Vincent merges with the ciranda, the polka meets the frevo, and the rond de Loudéac mingles with the maracatu!
