Although the bandoneon is his favorite instrument, Santiago Arias is a multi-instrumentalist. Originally from Jujuy, a Province of Northern Argentina, he finds his inspiration in the music of the Andes in which he has always been immersed. Since 2007, he multiplied collaborations and performed with many renowned orchestras and artists such as Coplera de Salta Balvina Ramos.
Today, he revisits the musical traditions of northwestern Argentina and the Andean part of Bolivia with his personal touch and the openness enabled by improvisation.
His latest album “Evocación de Carnaval” was created and recorded during quarantine. In the intimacy of his voice and the bandoneon, he offers folk melodies, influenced by his trajectory through different musical genres and leaving plenty of room for improvisation.
Immerse yourself in his dreamlike universe, a perfect balance between tradition, Andean roots and renewed aesthetics.
