After an impressive concert at the Hide & Seek Festival 2021, Ananta Roosens and Mostafa Taleb finally present their long-awaited album. Mostafa on the Iranian kamanche and Ananta on the Western violin put their cultural baggage to one side, so that their instruments can merge. From there, they search what is left, connect their individualities, and look for what can and cannot fit together.
Regardless of their geographical and cultural backgrounds, a striking number of similarities emerge. A refreshingly open-minded exercise in mutual trust and appreciation. By frequently exchanging ideas, they connect their individuality and permit their consciousness to develop further. Their music is almost exclusively improvised, they rely more on the knowledge of each other’s musical language and mutual interaction than on defined structures and figures. And how good that feels!
