Voices of Matongray is a unique event focusing on the voices of the Matongray neighbourhood and Gray Street. It is a mix of different characters living, working and churning out different projects in the neighbourhood. There will be 15 artists playing, each with their different backgrounds. It is also a great opportunity to discover the release of two new albums from the brand new label ‘Uren Production’. The first album “Banjara” by the group Baul meets Saz, mixes Bengali and Anatolian cultures. The second album is called “Manush Music Vol. 1” and is a unique compilation of very exceptional musical fusions.
Travelling from Senegal to India, while making a stopover in Belgium, this evening’s repertoire will be very varied in the languages of the performances as well as the different musical styles brought. What makes this event even more special is the interaction with the audience. After a very short initiation by the Schola Nova choir, the audience will be invited to join in at certain moments during the performance.
This project was partly made possible thanks to the support of the commune of Ixelles, through the Matongray call for projects, hence the name of this musical ensemble.
