The festival will open with a free concert that will explore the repertoire of the well-known composer Violeta Parra and the personal work of Ana Contreras. Both Chilean artists share common values such as the importance of transmission and the struggle for social equality.
Ana Contreras is an accomplished singer who devotes a good deal of her time to the transmission of her vast musical knowledge. Various traditional genres will be on offer, such as the cueca, the tonada or the waltz, while using Mapuche instruments, percussions, flutes and “el tormento chileno” (percussion).
- Ana Contreras: vocals, percussions
- Álvaro Rovira: Guitar

Latin America shows an incredible diversity of musical traditions, inspired by the fusion of African rhythms, European string instruments and the songs and flutes of the Indian peoples. The international festival Sonamos Latinoamerica festival has celebrated this diversity for many years and returns to Belgium for the fifth time for a week of concerts, parties and exhibitions. In addition, for this anniversary edition, female artists will be in the spotlight!
