Sirus is the result of an encounter between two strong duos, globetrotters, who have built their music around the notion of pleasure. It is with an anchoring in the traditional sounds of their respective countries (Sweden, France, Belgium) that these four musicians carry their musical intention beyond borders and pre-established styles.
The Swedish Jonas Åkerlund and Josefina Paulson are references in the traditions of their respective regions, Uppland and Västerdalarna, which they unite nicely in their duet of character. Jonas (violins, guitar, bagpipe) is known for his work with Lure, Esbjörn Hazelius Band and his duet with Anders Rosén. Josefina Paulson, for her part, is a reference among nyckelharpa players and has been recognized with numerous awards.
The duo Sophie Cavez (diatonic accordion) and Baltazar Montanaro (baritone violin, an instrument he built himself) have guaranteed for the last 10 years the existence of a poetic folk where communication and improvisation unite with the traditional musical influences of Belgium, France and Hungary. The main ingredient of this eclectic quartet is complicity. As much an invitation to dance as to reflection, the music of Sirus is universal.
