“Music that carries you into another landscape” (The Telegraph on Malick Pathe Sow’s concert at Womad)

After his highly acclaimed albums, “Maayo Men” and “Aduna” (accompanied by kora player Bao Sissoko); we had to wait quite some time for the return of Malick Pathe Sow with a new album.  Here it is!  In his latest CD, “Annoore”, Malick Pathe Sow builds a bridge between Dakar and his new Brussels home.  The album was recorded in both cities and addresses a large spectrum of subject matters.  For instance, you will discover tracks that exhort young people to actively participate in public and political debate, or a track that defends the role of Africa as the cradle of the world.

Malick also sings about the challenges of a technological society, or about blind people, without leaving aside the culture and traditions of his Peuhl roots.  Sometimes his songs make you dance, while at other times they invite you to moderation.  As before, with “Annoore” (meaning, “divine light”), Malick Pathe Sow proves that he is one of the great Senegalese songwriters and composers of his generation.
